Police arrests 20 year old man for brutally raping an 82 year old woman.
Asa Robert, 20, was convicted Monday of the 2015 rape, burglary, and robbery of an 82-year-old Brooklyn woman, the New York Daily News reports. He faces up to 122 years in prison.
Prosecutors said Robert broke into the Brighton Beach home armed with a knife. He demanded the woman give him money before tying her up, raping her for four hours, and instructing her not to call the police. It’s unclear whether he used the knife during the assault.
According to PIX 11, Robert then fled the home with a bag of the woman’s possessions. She was able to call family, who then called 911. Robert ran from police for four days but was ultimately found in the kitchen of a private residence.
His complete list of charges included first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree assault, first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, and two counts of second-degree criminal trespass. Robert was ultimately cleared of his predatory sexual assault charge, which would’ve carried 25 years-to-life in prison on its own.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10.
